In 2005, Jim Glickenhaus asked Andrea Pininfarina to build a one-off sports car with a retro design as a tribute to great endurance cars of the past, particularly to Ferrari “P” series. The result was one of the most exclusive and good looking Ferraris ever made: the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina.
His passion for motorsport has led him to create his own team, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, and to produce its own car, the SCG 003. The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003, is a limited edition sports car launched in 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show and it’s available in both racing car and street legal versions.
The race version is powered by a Honda 3.5 litre twin turbocharged V6 delivering 530hp at 6800 rpm and 730Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. But the important is the street version, because we must say thank you to Mr. Glickenhaus to give us the chance of drive a Le Mans car on the public road.
The street legal version is powered by a V12 engine with a a paddle-shift Hewland six-speed transmission. SCG will offer buyers a choice of engines, ranging up to a twin-turbocharged V-12. But the most important thing on the new car will be the lightweight construction and aerodynamic efficiency, with the promise that some 003 configurations will allow a Koenigsegg One:1-rivaling power to weight ratio of one horsepower for every kilogram of weight.
SCG has quoted a starting price of 2.1 million euros for the road car and 750,000 to one million euros for race version. With this car, you could drive a Le Mans racer on the street, and this experience is priceless.
